Apple Fest, MMC’s Annual 71st Street Block Party

On Thursday, September 22, over 30 Marymount Manhattan College clubs and organizations took over 71st street for the annual Apple Fest.

This year’s Apple Fest was tremendously successful with representation from many MMC organizations, as well as a caricature artist, a tarot card reader, and a henna artist. Students also enjoyed testing their strength by hitting the high striker, playing basketball at the pop-a-shots, relaxing with some adult coloring, and showing their school spirit with MMC themed flash tattoos!

“Every year, Apple Fest just gets bigger and better,” says Director of Student Development and Activities Olivia Des Chenes. “We’re grateful for everyone who worked together to make this event such a success, and also glad to be including more partners from the community to provide giveaways and services to our students.”

“Apple Fest is the perfect opportunity to be introduced to all the clubs and organizations Marymount has to offer, and we had a great turnout of eager students ready to get involved,” said Marie Pace, MMC’s Auxiliary Services Manager. “Plus, having your own block party in New York City is a pretty cool experience.”

About Apple Fest

Apple Fest is MMC’s joint outdoor festival and College club and activities fair. Apple Fest is sponsored by Auxiliary Services, Campus Activities Board, Student Government Association, and Student Development and Activities. After years of success with Strawberry Fest, the annual MMC end of school-year program, student leaders decided the school should have a similar program to welcome students in the fall, and thus Apple Fest was begun in the fall of 2009.
