Dr. Jennifer Mueller, Jeremy Dear, and Dr. Andreas Hernandez
The International Federation of Journalists’ Jeremy Dear spoke with members of the MMC community during a discussion organized by Dr. Jennifer Mueller of International Studies on Tuesday, October 23, 2018.
Mr. Dear, the Deputy General Secretary of the International Federation of Journalists, spoke to a packed room at MMC just hours after helping launch a new campaign with the United Nations to protect journalists and reporters around the world. Mr. Dear spoke about the current threats facing the media now including threats of violence, as well as the work his organization seeks to complete around the world. We are so grateful to him for leading such an important discussion with our students.

It’s a win for MMC! Though our Model UN Team only recently made its debut—President Avery Lauren Thomas ’25, Vice President Isaac Smith ’25, and Secretary Hannah Adames ’26 established the group this semester—that didn’t stop them from competing in the prestigious National Model UN New York Conference in April and scoring an honorable mention award.
