Cecilia Feilla, Ph.D.,Associate Professor of English and World Literatures, will be teaching a 5-week course on Shakespeare in Italy at the Umbra Institute. This course, as well all other summer courses at the Institute, are approved for transfer credit to MMC, and most will fulfill major or general education requirements.
Study Shakespeare’s Italian plays alongside the Italian sources, theatrical forms, and settings that inspired him. We’ll visit the sites of various plays, and study the way Shakespeare combined England and Italy, refashioning and reconfiguring the familiar—London spaces and types, stock characters, and plots—and relocating them in foreign contexts.
