MMC Requiring COVID-19 Vaccination or Approved Exemption for Fall 2021

As President Walk announced March 15, 2021, MMC plans to have 80 percent of classes in-person or blended for the Fall 2021 term. To provide the safest environment for our community, the College’s Health and Safety team has been working diligently on appropriate campus protocols—including vaccination documentation, updated guidelines for in-person learning, and density across campus—following guidance from local, state, and federal health officials.

Fill Out Your Vaccination Documentation Forms

On June 7, 2021, the Health and Safety team announced the College’s COVID-19 vaccination posture, requiring all students who are present on campus this fall to provide either:

  1. A confirmation that they have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19;
    or
  2. An application stating a medical, religious, or other reason for exemption from vaccination, subject to approval by the College’s Health and Safety team.

The submission process is ready for MMC students. Please fill out one of the following forms:

Submit Your COVID-19 Vaccination Information

or

Apply for a COVID-19 Vaccination Exemption

Residential students: you are required to submit your COVID-19 vaccination information (or apply for exemption) no later than Sunday, July 18, 2021.

All other students: you are required to submit your COVID-19 vaccination information (or apply for exemption) no later than Sunday, August 1, 2021.

Note that COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective, with research showing that vaccination protects individuals from severe or symptomatic infection, reduces asymptomatic infection, and potentially limits transmission of the virus.

Updates to Campus Guidelines for Fall 2021

The Health and Safety team has evaluated our existing protocols for all campus buildings and has made the following changes:

  1. A temperature scan is no longer required for entry into MMC facilities.
  2. The MMC Engage Daily Screening questionnaire is no longer required for students, faculty, and staff.
  3. Main Campus water-bottle filling stations will re-open. (Water fountains will remain closed.)

At this time, the College will maintain the requirement to wear a mask in all indoor and outdoor spaces, including classrooms, study spaces, rehearsal studios, residence halls, and the Lowerre Family Terrace. Masks may be removed temporarily while individuals are eating. The mask mandate will be continually evaluated as guidance evolves, and any updates to COVID-19 policies will be provided in a timely manner and posted to the College’s website.

Important to Remember

There are members of our community who are unable to receive the vaccine due to pre-existing medical conditions or strongly held religious beliefs. Vaccination history is protected and private medical information. We cannot disclose an individual’s vaccination status, nor are individuals required to disclose to you their information.

We urge our community to continue to show care, consideration, and respect as we navigate our Fall 2021 semester. We’re in this together. Let’s make our campus, classrooms, and community spaces as comfortable as possible this fall!
