Professor Laura Tropp Takes on New Role as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs
In January 2022, Communications Arts Professor Laura Tropp, Ph.D. stepped into a new role as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, taking over for Professor Sue Behrens, Ph.D., who has returned to teaching.
Over the years, Dr. Tropp has worn many hats at Marymount Manhattan—from teaching unique courses across communication theory, media history, campaigns and elections, media law and motherhood studies—to serving as the Communications and Media Arts department chair. Among many professional accolades, Dr. Tropp received the Erving Goffman Award in 2019 for her book Grandparents in the Digital Age.
“Like Sue, Laura brings an incredible depth of experience to this role, including her years serving as division chair and her outstanding work in the classroom,” said Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty Peter Naccarato. “I am grateful that Laura has accepted this appointment and I am so excited to begin working with her.”
Congratulations, Dr. Tropp, on this exciting new chapter—and cheers to Dr. Behrens on a job well done!
