Melissa Weekes-Stoute Named Dean of Student Success Advising

Melissa Weekes-Stoute has been promoted to Dean of Student Success Advising. In this role, she will lead the new Office of Student Success Advising, which provides academic advising as well as support for students’ persistence, educational accomplishment, college completion, and strong post-graduate outcomes.

Weekes-Stoute joined the MMC staff in 2007, and swiftly rose through positions including Advisement Coordinator, Academic Advisor, and Assistant Dean—first of Academic Advisement, and most recently, for Student Success. In the Office of Advising, Weekes-Stoute was instrumental in the implementation of many key initiatives that improved advisement processes and the student experience. More recently, she has steered or collaborated on a number of programs aimed at supporting students throughout their college education, including the First Generation Program, Project Persistence, and the LINK Program.

Weekes-Stoute will now focus on enhancing the holistic support that MMC students receive from their first semester through the day they graduate. She will continue the fine work that has already made her so respected around MMC, leading critical initiatives to enrich students’ MMC experience.

A proud first-generation student and alumna of MMC, Weekes-Stoute is currently pursuing her Masters of Education in Student Affairs Higher Education at the University of West Alabama.
