Alumni Jacob Larsen ’17 and Kate Reyes ’20 Perform at the Martha Graham Dance Gala
Reyes used to feel that her creative impulse and talents would go unseen. Then she came across the choreography of Martha Graham, and she knew she’d be vindicated through her dance movement/career. She graduated from MMC with a BFA in Dance (Modern concentration), was a member of the MMC Dance Company, and received the Gold Key Award for Modern Dance.
Larsen received his BFA from MMC where he performed works by Paul Taylor, Twyla Tharp, and Aszure Barton, among others. He has worked collaboratively with Sidra Bell Dance New York, and while at Springboard Danse Montreal 2015, performed works by Alexander Ekman and Banning Boulding of New Dialect. In the Times piece, Larsen and his dance partner are described in the following way:
In a luminous and lyrical duet, So Young An and Jacob Larsen, bathed in cool moonlight, are continually drawn toward each other. In a dramatic moment, she pliés deeply and he picks her up from behind.
