Dr. Julie Huntington Presents Paper at Dakar Conference

On June 15, Julie Huntington, Ph.D., an associate professor of Writing, Literature, and Language, presented her paper “Transpoetics and the End of Necropolitics: Realizing the Vision of Édouard Glissant’s Tout-Monde” at the inaugural Dakar Translation Symposium in Dakar, Senegal.
Co-organized by Cheikh Anta Diop University, Assane Seck University, NYU Abu Dhabi, and Rutgers University, the plurilingual symposium featured a week-long series of exchanges among academics, artists, and writers working in Africa, Europe, and the Americas on themes related to Africa and her diasporas.
It was a rare opportunity to center international discourse on African and Diaspora Studies at a host institution in Africa. Beyond plurilingual creative and critical dialogues, the goal of this initiative is to create a Center for Translation at Assane Seck University in Ziguinchor, one of the most linguistically diverse areas in Senegal.
