Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs speaks with PHR students about Asylum Seeker Arrival Crisis, Volunteer Opportunities in NYC

On October 27, at 12 pm, representatives from the New York City Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs will hold an informational session with MMC students. The event is co-sponsored by the departments of Politics of Human Rights, International Studies, and the Social Work minor program.

The workshop will address the current crisis involving some 17,000 new asylum-seeking arrivals to New York City and volunteer opportunities for MMC students. In addition, the session will include an overview of key programs available to immigrant New Yorkers and other residents of the city, such as IDNYC, and highlight the rights of immigrants. This is a hybrid event; if you are in-person, please join us in Carson Hall, room 505. The representatives of the Mayor’s Office of Immigrant Affairs will join us by Zoom; RSVP on MMC Engage to receive the Zoom link. For more information, contact Prof. Brady at mbrady@mmm.edu
