MMC Holds Ribbon-Cutting for New High-Tech Arts Center

MMC celebrated the launch of its new Judith Mara Carson Center for Visual Arts, a stunning 12,000-square-foot space on the seventh and eighth floors of Carson Hall, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 9.

The center, known affectionately as The Judy, is a cross-disciplinary creative hub that offers MMC community members a versatile space to create, collaborate, and showcase work. It was made possible by a $25 million gift from The Carson Family Charitable Trust that will also support student scholarships. Students began taking classes at The Judy this semester.

A well-known champion of New York City arts and culture, Judith Mara Carson ’03, H’13 graduated from MMC in 2003 with a degree in Art History. She joined President Kerry Walk at the ribbon-cutting, along with The Judy’s award-winning architects DSK | Dewing Schmid Kearns and builders Shawmut Design and Construction, alums, students, faculty, and staff.
