Writing Professor Tahneer Oksman to Speak at Panel on Jewish Women in Comics

Associate Professor of Academic Writing Tahneer Oksman, Ph.D., will be featured in a panel discussion at the University of Florida on November 30 centered around the new book Jewish Women in Comics: Bodies and Borders.

The book is a collection of essays, interviews, and artwork examining Jewish women’s comics. 

Dr. Oksman’s scholarship and teaching include writing, visual narrative and comics, memoir studies, women’s literature, and Jewish American literature. She is the author of “How Come Boys Get to Keep Their Noses”: Women and Jewish American Identity in Contemporary Graphic Memoirs and co-editor of The Comics of Julie Doucet and Gabrielle Bell: A Place Inside Yourself.

Joining her on the panel are Margaret Galvan, an assistant professor of Visual Rhetoric at the University of Florida, and Megan Fowler, an instructor at the University of Alabama.
