Deena Marcum Selko ’01 has been named the new artistic director of The Academy at Perry-Mansfield, an arts education nonprofit in Steamboat Springs, Colorado.

The organization is located on the historic campus of Perry-Mansfield, the oldest continuously operating performing arts school/camp in the nation, and includes the Yampa Valley Players, a community theater company.

Deena is an artist, creator, visionary, and educator with a background in dance, theater, circus, and music. After earning a BFA in Dance from Marymount Manhattan College, she performed internationally as a dancer and aerialist for over 20 years. In 2009, Deena founded MOTH (Movement of the Heart) Live Entertainment, which creates live stage shows inspired by Broadway and the circus.

In addition to her career as a professional performer, she teaches and mentors aspiring youth artists around the country in dance, theater, circus, choreography, and stage management. Many of her students now perform in Cirque du Soleil and other best-in-class companies around the world.

We are so proud of you, Deena! Congratulations!
