Dance Alum Lindsay Grymes ’20 Choreographs Piece for the Joffrey Ballet Concert Group

Dance alum Lindsay Grymes ’20 choreographed the piece “Falter Upward” for the Joffrey Ballet Concert Group’s Spring Gala.

She’ll present the work as one of two choreographers accepted to the group’s Creative Movers Choreographic Initiative. The program, described as a search for dance makers of the future, drew hundreds of applicants from New York and the Tristate area last fall.

Lindsay’s mission as a choreographer and dancer is to create an accurate and recognizable depiction of the human spirit through movement while keeping the timelessness of the abstract in mind. She has had the honor of presenting work at Jazz at the Lincoln Center, STEPS on Broadway, Peridance APEX, and many more.

“Falter Upward” celebrates the journey to a goal while taking in others’ support, knowledge, and differing viewpoints. Watch the piece unfold when the Joffrey Ballet Concert Group performs—under the artistic direction of Bradley Shelver—February 16-18 at the Ailey Citigroup Theater. We are so proud of you, Lindsay! Congratulations!
