WLL Professor Jennifer Brown Featured in New Book

Writing Holiness seeks to explore the progression of hagiographic texts and how our perception of the saints has changed over time. Through contemporary theories and the reinvigoration of older practices, academics have continued to see these figures from new and exciting angles.

Dr. Brown’s essay, “‘She Said’: Female Agency and Voice in Middle English Hagiographic Accounts,” is one of 10 pieces included.

At MMC, Dr. Brown teaches many classes in the Department of Writing, Literature, and Language, including History of the English Language and Dragons, Knights, and Damsels: The Middle Ages. She has published a number of books – most recently, Manuscript Culture and Medieval Devotional Traditions: Essays in Honour of Michael G. Sargent (published in 2021) and Fruit of the Orchard: Catherine of Siena in Late Medieval and Early Modern England (published in 2018).
