In 2013 Pamela earned a B.A. in Sociology from MMC and a minor in Social Work. She then went on to pursue graduate school at Columbia University School of Social Work (CUSSW). She is currently studying clinical social work, with a focus in contemporary social issues. Pamela has volunteered and interned with a handful of social service agencies throughout New York City such as, The Ali Forney Center, Safe Horizon, Turn around USA and currently the Anti Violence Project (AVP). Pamela interns with the client services department at AVP, providing rape crisis support and on-going counseling with those who have experienced violence and identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or HIV-affected.
Pamela values both her undergraduate and graduate education, as they have taught her to practice from an anti-oppressive framework and to think deeply about her clients intersecting identities. Additionally, Pamela is studying community organizing and has participated in grassroots social movements during her graduate career, including the “Carry That Weight” campaign, pioneered by a survivor and activist at Columbia University.
