Justin William Brown is a New York City based actor, director, production assistant, and theatre critic. He has performed in classical, contemporary, and musical theatre productions across the spectrum of performance; from concerts and cabaret to experimental and traditional. He has worked under the direction of M.A.C. President and award winner Lennie Watts and Stephen Ray Watkins, Tony Award nominee Patricia Birch, as well as renowned director John Basil. Justin has directed in traditional and nontraditional forms, including a successful immersive-environmental production of A Doll’s House and For Colored Girls; production assistant Off-Broadway at the renowned La MaMa Theatre and 59E59 Street Theatres, for Tony Award winning producer and lighting designer Richard Winkler. He was the recipient of the Youth Journalism International Certificate for Op Ed in Entertainment and participates in multiple interdisciplinary panels on diversity in performance, most recently at Alvin Ailey. Currently Justin serves as co-critic on a biweekly review segment entitled The Corner Table alongside legendary critic John Simon, on RNN’s Emmy Award winning Richard French Live!
Select theatre credits include: 32 Millimeter, Hamlet, Interludes: Beyond the Foot of the Stage, The Light In The Piazza, Much Ado About Nothing, Maverick / HEF, and Stage Door. Justin will hold a BA in Theatre Arts, with a concentration in performance and a minor in Musical Theatre; he is also an acting graduate of The Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts.
