Penny Pun

Class of 2017, Gold Key Recipient in English and World Literatures

  • MELANIE EINZIG

From the EWL Faculty:

“Penny is an excellent student and a truly creative intellectual. While getting ready to stage her off-Broadway play, Blue –which will be included in PanAsian Rep’s NuWorks 2017, Penny has been finishing her Honors in the Major thesis, which is titled “Impossible to Put Together: Disabled Narratives in Samuel Beckett’s Krapp’s Last Tape and Happy Days.” Her thesis examines linguistic encoding of disability and anxiety in the reception of such codes. However, because existing theories about disabled narratives fall short of articulating how that anxiety occurs, Penny has decided that she must develop her own theory – one that rejects concerns about what happens before and after disability. This is only one example of the outstanding work that Penny has produced in all of her English & World Literatures classes.”
