Socrates Sculpture Park

About

Students in Dr. Julie Huntington’s Reading NYC courses visited the 2017 Annual Exhibit at the Socrates Sculpture Park October 13, 2017 featuring the works of 15 emerging artists. As part of their visit, the groups considered the importance of space and place–positions, contexts, and perspectives–in literary and visual texts. As a follow-up assignment, students will be connecting and comparing ideas across media and disciplines. They will analyze themes explored in a site-specific sculptural piece of their choosing with those presented in essays on spatiality and relation-ality in NYC by Vivian Gornick, Jane Jacobs, Colson Whitehead, and/or E. B. White.
