Maureen C. Grant, Ph.D. ’60

Dr. Maureen Grant has dedicated her career to higher education having served at Marymount Manhattan College (MMC) 1999 – 2008 as Senior Vice President, Acting President and Interim Vice President for Institutional Advancement. Maureen graduated from MMC in 1960 with a double major in English and Philosophy and was awarded the MMC Alumni Tribute Award in October 1997 for her influential involvement with the College. Dr. Grant earned a Ph.D. in Nineteenth Century Studies from Drew University and an M.A. in English from St. John’s University. She was twice a scholar-in-residence as well as a history faculty member at Cambridge University. She has researched and taught courses in nineteenth century British literature and history, composition and writing. Maureen was also the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty at Bloomfield College, 1989 – 1997. She was awarded the president’s medal at Bloomfield College’s 124th Commencement Ceremony and currently serves on their Board of Trustees. In addition, friends and faculty at Bloomfield College dedicated an endowed scholarship in her name to honor her years of service to Bloomfield. Prior to joining Bloomfield College, Maureen held the positions of Academic Dean, Chair of the Humanities Division and Associate Professor of English at Felician College and Assistant Dean at the College of Saint Elizabeth. Dr. Grant was elected to MMC’s Board in December 2017, serves on the Educational Planning Committee, and the Audit and Risk Committee.
