Jere Hunt ’09

Jere Hunt, 

a native of Huntsville, AL, has a BFA in Dance from Marymount Manhattan College in New York City, where he currently serves as Treasurer for the Dance Department Advisory Board. He was a member of Rioult Dance NY for 10 years, regularly touring both domestically and internationally. He recently premiered his independent short film One Thing is Certain: a dance film which has been recognized by several film festivals worldwide.

Previously, Mr. Hunt performed with Alabama Ballet, Vera Huff/Veracity Dance Theater, SYREN Modern Dance, and numerous independent choreographers. He is featured in the music video for “Truth Is” by UK singer-songwriter, Stealth, and has frequently been seen as a guest artist with Saving Grace Dance Ensemble (Milford, NH), Southern New Hampshire Youth Ballet (Manchester, NH), City Center Ballet (Lebanon, NH), Ballet Tennessee (Chattanooga, TN), and Huntsville Ballet (Huntsville, AL). Mr. Hunt has taught for the Rioult Dance NY Intensives and has been on the Summer Intensive guest faculty at Ballet Tennessee and Dance Alive Program, Lebanon Ballet School (Lebanon, NH), and Studio Arts for Dancers (Knoxville, TN). As a choreographer, he has created works for Saving Grace Dance Ensemble (Milford, NH), City Center Ballet, Grissom High School Dance Ensembles (Huntsville, AL), and the Lee High Magnet School Minor Company (Huntsville, AL). His piece Acceptance won “Best Modern Piece” at the Panoply Choreography Competition in 2013.

He recently directed a production of The Light in the Piazza for Ars Nova, Inc., co-choreographed Newsies: the Musical for Independent Musical Productions, and currently teaches at Fantasy Playhouse Children’s Theatre and Academy in Huntsville. He has been a guest teacher and lecturer at colleges, high schools, and dance studios across the United States. www.jerehunt.com
