Lauren Shoemaker is an independent dance artist and teacher with a B.F.A. from Southern Methodist University. She danced with Graham 2 from 2007-2009 and with the Martha Graham Dance Company from 2010-2016. While dancing in the Graham Company, Lauren also performed in works by Kyle Abraham, Larry Keigwin, Nacho Duato, Andonis Foniadakis, and had the pleasure of working with Annie B. Parson, Marie Chouinard, and Michelle Dorrance. In 2012 she performed in the touring Italian production, Cercando Picasso, a play directed by Antonio Calenda with choreography by Janet Eilber.
Lauren can also be seen in the Martha Graham Dance Technique video, produced by Dance Spotlight, as well as in the feature film Fall to Rise directed by Jayce Bartok. This past year she performed in the music video Black Snow by the musical artist Oneohtrix Point Never. Currently, she performs with Madeline Hollander and has also worked with dance artists Isabel Lewis, Yanghee Lee, Jesse Factor, and Kristin Draucker. Lauren has taught at Marymount Manhattan College, Long Island University, The Martha Graham School, as well as USDAN camp for the arts from 2016-2018.
