Class of 2007, Communication Arts major

  • Emily Kincaid '07

“Marymount Manhattan was such an inviting school. I felt free to explore who I was and all of the different paths I was interested in pursuing for my career. In the same week I was rehearsing for a role in The Vagina Monologues I was strategizing with members of The Lamba Pi Eta Honor Society where I served as head of Public Relations.”

While many of us were binge-watching hours of Netflix on our couches, Emily Kincaid ’07 was hard at work creating content for the streaming service. A former Communication Arts major at MMC, Kincaid is a producer for Top Knot Films, responsible for Abducted in Plain Sight, a true-crime documentary that premiered on Netflix in January 2019.

Before moving to Netflix, Abducted in Plain Sight traveled the film festival circuit, winning a total of 11 awards, including multiple for “Best Documentary Feature Film.” The documentary—written, produced, and directed by an all-female team—tells the dark and disturbing story of a young girl who was kidnapped twice by the same man in the 1970s. Abducted in Plain Sight is currently available to be streamed in 190 countries on Netflix

As someone with myriad interests, MMC’s approach to developing intellectually curious students served Kincaid well. “Marymount Manhattan was such an inviting school,” she remembers. “I felt free to explore who I was and all of the different paths I was interested in pursuing for my career. In the same week I was rehearsing for a role in The Vagina Monologues I was strategizing with members of The Lamba Pi Eta Honor Society where I served as head of Public Relations.”

Kincaid, currently a resident of Los Angeles, is as a full-time producer and actress, and also works as a freelance consultant helping businesses strategize growth with innovative branding and marketing.
