  • Kat Calamia ’16

“Before going to MMC, my career path trajectory was cloudy. I knew I loved writing and TV, but it wasn’t until I took Journalism 101 and my first screenwriting class at MMC that I found my true calling as a creative writer and journalist.”

Kat Calamia graduated from Marymount Manhattan College in 2016 with a degree in Communication Arts and a minor in Journalism. With the help and guidance from her many wonderful professors, Kat built her portfolio in both film and journalism—including internships at New York 1 and TV Guide Magazine.

Since graduating, Calamia has earned a Masters in Writing and Producing TV at LIU Brooklyn, landing an internship as an assistant to director and producer Romeo Tirone on Amazon Prime’s The Tick. She currently works as a comic book/entertainment journalist at Newsarama/Gamesradar and DC Comics’ streaming service DC Universe. She also has bylines with TV Guide (which she obtained during her time at MMC), IGN, and Fandom.

Next to her journalism work, Kat is a comic book writer, currently publishing the psychological thriller, They Call Her…The Dancer, and ongoing superhero series, Like Father, Like Daughter.
