Lynn Glauber Mandel







Lynn Glauber, a native of Buffalo, NY, began her training at the Ballet Center of Buffalo directed by Kathleen Crofton.She was fortunate enough to work with Bronislava Nijinska in three works that she set; Sleeping Beauty, Brahms Variations and Les Biches, where she was dancing solo roles in each production. She also worked with David Lichine dancing the principal Roll in his famed ballet, Graduation Ball. In 1970, she was awarded a full scholarship to the Joffrey School in NYC, where she danced for Anthony Tudor in his known ballet, Fandango for the Joffrey ll Company. In 1971, she joined the Maurice Bejart’s Ballet of the Twentieth Century in Belgium as the youngest member of the company. During Ms. Glauber’s tenure in the Company, Bejart created six ballets especially for her. She also danced in many leading roles worldwide; her favorite being Romeo’s “Juliet. She was the only other featured Principal female dancer alongside Maya Pleisetskaya” while on tour performing in NYC at the Uris Theater, the principal role of Marteau sans Maitre to acclaimed reviews by Arlene Croce. Ms. Glauber returned to the U.S. in 1977 joining the Joffrey Ballet dancing principal roles created by notable choreographers including Anthony Tudor, Robert Joffrey, Gerald Arpino, John Cranko, Agnes DeMille, Glen Tetley, Oscar Ariaz, and Sir Frederick Franklin. She also appeared in ballet galas, musical theater and television in the United States and abroad. Her final bow she shared the stage with Cynthia Gregory and Donald Williams in a creation by Frances Patrelle in New York City. Her teaching credits include; Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ailey ll, Ballet Academy East, Elliot Feld School, New Jersey Ballet, Eglevsky Ballet School, American Theater Dance Summer Workshop, Jacob’s Pillow, National Ballet of Prague, State Street Ballet Santa Barbara, in addition to being a guest teacher and ballet mistress for the Ballet Hispanico, Universal Ballet, Korea, & Bat D’or, Israel. She is currently teacher and Co-Chair of the Ballet Department at The Ailey School’s Professional Division and an Adjunct professor at Marymount Manhattan College.
