Dance As An Art Form/African Dance
Andrea Markus was born in Jamaica, West Indies. She graduated from Ithaca College in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Biology. She has studied dance with Diana Byer, Yousouff Koumbassa, M’Bemba Bangoura, Rod Rodgers, Katiti King, Ronald K. Brown and others. Andrea has traveled to Guinea, West Africa to study with the masters of the national companies Les Ballets Africains and Ballet Djoliba. She is currently Executive Director and dancer with Magbana Drum & Dance, and an adjunct faculty member in the dance education program at New York University.
