Wilma Wever (B.M., M.A.) appeared in the title role in the world premiere of Jocastaby Ruth Schonthal in NYC. The New York Times called her“attractive and engaging.” She debuted with Encompass Opera in Henze’s The End Of A World(Marchesa) and sang Ms. Edison in a reading of Tesla,an opera by Kievman withNew York City Opera. In 2017, she performed Marthy Owen in Anna Christieby Edward Thomas with New American Opera Previews in collaboration with AOP. Other roles include, Ariadne in Ariadne auf Naxos, Leonorein Fideliowith Brooklyn Repertory Opera and Leonora in Verdi’s Il Trovatore with Espresso Opera, NYC. Winner of the Hunter Concerto Competition in 2008, she performed numerous recitals in distinguished venues such as the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam and Weill Recital Hall. The Music Connoisseurcalled her a performer with“savvy and grit.”Wever is the Founder and Director of Performance EmPowering.
