About

As the Associate Director of Student Development and Activities, Stephanie Tovar (She, Her) oversees developing and leading co-curricular programs and services that involve the Marymount Manhattan College community in student engagement and civic engagement. Stephanie supports the mission of SDA by planning large-scale student engagement programs, coordinating student activities, and providing opportunities for students to develop campus affinity. In addition to programming, Stephanie also advises the Campus Activities Board (CAB), Senior Marshals, and The Yearbook; co-runs the student pantry Griffy’s Grocery, and oversees programs such Students of Excellence, MMC Eats, MMC Perks and Alternative Spring Break.

Prior to joining MMC in the Fall of 2021, Stephanie served as the Senior Coordinator in the Office of Graduate Student Life at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey. During her tenure at Stevens, Stephanie primarily worked with international graduate students pursuing STEM and business focused degrees.

Stephanie is the eldest of 3 siblings and first generation college graduate. Born and raised in Los Angeles, California, Stephanie moved to New York City for her Masters degree in 2015. Driven by bridging the college experience for students, Stephanie hopes to be a small stepping stone that leads students to degree completion. As an alum of the Upward Bound program at Occidental College, Stephanie owes so much of her success to this college prep program who helped her achieve her academic goals and expand her horizons well beyond her community.

Stephanie has earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Political Science from California Student University Northridge, and her Master of Arts degree in Higher Education and Student Affairs from New York University.
