Jeannine Foster-McKelvia- director, actor and playwright. She is a graduate of Duquesne University (B.A.), Sarah Lawrence College (MFA), and an Alumni of the Lincoln Center Theatre’s Directors Lab. She considers herself fortunate to have been mentored by great artist like the late Broadway and television director Ed Sherin, Negro Ensemble Company original member Allie Woods and Houston Ensemble Theatre Artistic Director Eileen Morris. Jeannine’s directing credits include, Garvey (Trilogy Opera Company), Swing and Miss N’Victas (Negro Ensemble Company), Belonging (original student work, CUNY City Tech), A Question of Tasteand The Kitchen (Pittsburgh Playwrights Theatre) and the MMC Spring 2021 Playwright’s Project. She was a resident artist for the series “Short Plays to Nourish the Mind & Soul” at The George Bruce Library (NYPL). Jeannine has also developed and directed plays and performances for middle and high school after school programs. Acting credits include Rosalee Pritchett (Negro Ensemble Company), Scissoring (Columbia Stages), Punching Glass (Manhattan Rep Theatre), Relativity, Ashes to Africa (Kuntu Repertory Theatre), American Menu, Blue and The Dance on Widows Row (New Horizon Theatre), the web series Escaping Single, and the independent short film String of Pearls. Jeannine is glad to teach and be part of the Theatre Department at Marymount Manhattan College. She is also an Adjunct Assistant Professor at CUNY City Tech in the Department of African American Studies.
