Jeannine Foster-McKelvia is a director, actor and playwright.

A few of her directing credits include several projects as part of Cesi Davidson’s series “Short Plays that Nourish the Soul,” Our Lady of 121st Street (Marymount Manhattan College), Swing and Miss N’Victas (Negro Ensemble Company), A Doll’s House and The Story (Sarah Lawrence College), A Question of Taste (original production at Pittsburgh Playwright’s Theatre and producer/director in the Midtown International Theatre Festival, NYC).

Her acting credits include: Rosalee Pritchett (Negro Ensemble Company), Scissoring (Columbia Stages), Punching Glass (Manhattan Rep Theatre), Five and Flying Lessons (Sarah Lawrence College), Relativity and Ashes to Africa (Kuntu Repertory Theatre), American Menu, Blue, and The Dance on Widows Row (New Horizon Theatre), the web series Escaping Single, and the independent short film String of Pearls.

Jeannine began writing as she realized that roles and stories that focus on mature African American woman were very few. Her plays include The Perfect Reunion, The Ghostmans, and School Girl Crush.

Jeannine is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the African American Studies Department CUNY’s New York City College of Technology and at Marymount Manhattan College. She is a graduate of Duquesne University, B.A Journalism/Theatre Arts, and Sarah Lawrence College, M.F.A Theatre.
