Anastasiia Smirnova’24
Class of 2024, Double major in Finance and International Business
“I worked at SMBC for one and a half years, while I studied at MMC and was offered a fulltime position upon graduation as a vendor accountant at SMBC. “
“In my high school, I was always hesitant to speak my opinion in class or ask the teacher a question, I was not sure if my opinion mattered anyway. However, at MMC I have great professors who not only make me interested in the material we are studying, but they also encourage students to initiate in-class discussions and ask questions. This experience made me more confident in myself and I know that I can learn much more from my professors and classmates.”
About
“I double majored in Finance & International Business at MMC. In the winter of my junior year, I got a paid internship in vendor accounting at SMBC, Japan’s largest bank. I was lucky to meet amazing teammates from different countries, learn how to use various accounting software like Coupa and Oracle, and advance my skills in Microsoft Excel.
At MMC, I served as an Student Senator for International Students. In this role, I organized a group chat for all international students and planned various events throughout this semester to create community. I am extremely excited to hear about their experience and to help international students adapt to college and New York city.
Lastly, I also served as treasurer for the Marymount Business Association, a student organization at MMC, which regularly invites professional speakers to MMC to learn about how companies face and overcome business challenges.”
