“It’s not easy being a First-Generation college student, so having a support system at MMC means a lot.”

About

In spring 2023, I received the Outstanding First-Gen Guide Award. Throughout my sophomore year, I, alongside two other First-Gen Guides, mentored first-year, First Generation college students at MMC. I arranged events like a trip to Governor’s Island and The Met, and had frequent check-ins with my mentees. My goal was to be there to support the students that were going through similar experiences that I had gone through during my first year at MMC. It’s not easy being a First-Generation college student, so having a support system means a lot. I am very thankful for the award and I hope to continue to support my fellow First-Generation students at MMC.

In the summer of 2023, as a rising junior, I interned at Tourneau Bucherer - a luxury watch retailer - in the Accounting and Finance divisions. This was a paid internship and I gained experience in both fields to help me decide which path interests me the most.

In November 2023, I began a one-year paid Accounting internship at Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation. SMBC is a global bank established in Tokyo. I am learning how to use Accounting programming and other financial skills. I am also learning time management as a student intern. I am thankful for this wonderful opportunity.
