  • Funding will provide support to Dr. Aguanno to advance her continuing project in an undergraduate biology research training program, The role of cyclin dependant kinase 5 (CDK5) in the development of mammalian tissues.

    Dr. Aguanno has established a method of faculty and peer training program that
    centers on an ongoing research project in celular and molecular biology, neuroscience, and
    developmental biology. The project is kept continuous and advances through the training of new (“junior”) students by the “senior” students in the lab.

    Dr. Aguanno’s students regurarly present their research findings at regional and national research conferences, often earning top prizes.

Pi Day 2016


MMC celebrated Pi Day 2016 with the annual writing contest sponsored by the Department of Mathematics. Entrants submitted an original sentence, paragraph, poem or short story using the digits of π in order (3.14159265359…).  Entries were judged by Profs. Wat, Ching, Margolin, and Meyers on cleverness, interest, and length.  Monetary prizes ($100, $31.41, $3.14) were awarded to the best student entries.

In May 2014, junior Biology majors Marisa Dunigan and Katherine Ness traveled to the National Synchrotron Light Source at Brookhaven National Lab to conduct experiments in X-ray absorption spectroscopy with Prof. Leri.

New York City Partnership to Advance Science


The New York City Partnership to Advance Science (NYC-PAS) was established by Marymount Manhattan College to provide high school students with meaningful research opportunities. Funding for this program was provided by a Congressionally-directed grant sponsored by Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney in partnership with the U.S. Department of Education.
