ID cards

The physical ID cards contain enhanced security features that make them safer than digital IDs. The cards themselves cannot be duplicated while the card system provides important information to the safety team and includes more functionality in terms of access to certain areas of campus. 

The ID displays the following:

• Your photo
• Your preferred name
• Your status as a student, faculty, or staff member
  • If faculty or staff, also your office/division
• A color associated with your status
• A barcode

You can pick up your new ID card beginning Wednesday, March 13, at 10am in the Hewitt Gallery. Note that members of the Campus Safety team will be available on weekdays from March 13-22 during the hours of 10am to 6pm, so stop by anytime in that window. We appreciate your patience during the drop-in window as may be processing multiple IDs at any given time. 

No, you may not punch a hole or alter your ID card in any way. Alterations will prevent your ID card from being read properly by the scanners.    

The new ID cards will use the existing photo from the Touchnet system. If there is no photo on file, then Campus Safety will take a photo of you when you pick up the new card.

If you lose your card, you must immediately notify safety@mmm.edu. You will then be directed to file a report with Campus Safety at either of the Campus Safety desks (i.e., at the 71st Street desk or at the 55th Street Residence Hall desk). Instructions for obtaining a replacement card will be provided after you have notified Campus Safety. There will be a replacement fee of $20.

If your card is stolen, you must immediately notify safety@mmm.edu. You will then be directed to file a report with Campus Safety at either of the Campus Safety desks (i.e., at the 71st Street desk or at the 55th Street Residence Hall desk). Additionally, you will be asked to file a police report in the event of a stolen card.

Your digital ID is being replaced with the new ID card. Your digital ID will cease to function on March 22. 

Beginning March 22, the digital ID contained in the TouchNet OneCard app will cease to function. Once you have your physical ID card, you may delete the TouchNet OneCard app.

Your physical ID card can be used in all the same ways that your digital ID was, including

• entrance to campus buildings (e.g., Carson Hall, 55th Street residence hall)
• Thomas J. Shanahan Library
• GrubHub

Your ID card will be valid for as long as your tenure at MMC lasts, whether you are a student, faculty, or staff member.
