MMC requires all full-time students (12 or more credits) to have adequate health insurance to cover a full range of medical care from routine doctor’s visits, lab tests and medication to emergencies in the New York City area. The requirement ensures you are protected against unforeseen medical expenses that may interfere with your education.
For the 2018-19 academic year, MMC has once again enrolled all full-time (12 credits or more) students in a plan with United Healthcare. The rate is $1,983 for the coverage period August 15, 2018 to August 14, 2019. The plan fully covers preventative healthcare, and covers most other care at 90 percent after the student pays a $100 deductible.
You may examine the full details of the plan under the “Certificates” tab on the navigation panel on the insurance website.
If you do not want to keep to keep this insurance plan, and you can show you have adequate alternative coverage, you may submit an ONLINE WAIVER APPLICATION. Once your waiver is approved, the charge will be dropped from your MMC account.
*ONLY* New incoming students starting this Spring semester can either enroll in the insurance or waive the plan by February 15, 2019. Action must be taken online for either decision.
Failure to waive out by the deadline will lead to student being automatically enrolled in the health insurance. They will have to cancel directly with the health insurance and pay a prorated amount.
Students attending Marymount Manhattan on a student visa (F-1) are required to maintain the College insurance and are not able to opt out during the waiver period.
