Fall Housing FAQs

 
What do I need to do to sign up for housing?

As soon as you can, pay the $500 non-refundable housing deposit and starting April 2, complete the Continuing Student housing application online.

What if I can’t make the time slot that was assigned to me?

You can go any time after your assigned time up until 5pm on April 19. 

Can I use my phone to reserve my room?

We recommend using a computer or tablet- the display will be better. 

Will I be able to exchange my roommate code with my friend group before my time slot?

Yes. You can obtain your friend’s Roommate’s Code by asking them in person or via text. 

How do we choose our Group Leader?

The Group Leader is the person who initiated the group (the first person who sent the roommate request. 

Who can invite other members to the group?

Any current member of the Group, or someone creating a new Group.

How do I choose my bed?

Have a discussion with your roommates about who gets which bed.  When your Group Leader is choosing your room at Cooper Square, bed selection is based on the order your names are listed as room occupants.  Your order corresponds to your bed assignments as seen on the Cooper Square Floor Plans online. 

Can I view my potential roommates’ profile with their personal preferences before acceptant the request?

Yes.  When the request is sent you can view their Roommate Matching Profile with their personal preferences. 

What if someone requests me and I don’t want to live with them?

You can deny a request to be part of a Group (even if that Group is one person), but if you change your mind, YOU must initiate the request to match as roommates.  Remember, roommate matches must be mutual. 

How will I know if I have successfully submitted my housing application?

You will receive a confirmation email thanking you for submitting your application. 

Can I make changes once I have submitted?

No. Once you have submitted and received your confirmation email you will not be able to make adjustments.  If you are dissatisfied with your suite or roommate choice after submitting, you should email us at residencelife@mmm.edu.  You will no longer be able to participate in Room Selection, and we will assign you your room. 

Can I see Cooper Square in person before signing up?

Yes! Tours of Cooper Square are at 8:30 pm on March 20 & 21 and April 2, 5, and 8. If you can’t make one of these tour nights, virtual tours of Cooper Square and floor plans of each room are available.

What if I have a balance on my account when I pay my deposit? 

Please make sure you do not have a balance on your student account, otherwise your $500 non-refundable deposit will be considered a payment on your account, not your housing deposit.

What happens if I sign up for a room and later decide to live off campus?

If you are unsure about housing, DO NOT sign up for a space in housing right now. By submitting your $500 non-refundable deposit and application during FHS,  you are contractually bound to the housing contract and are responsible for the housing charges for the entire academic year.

What if I sign up after April 12th?

You will still be able to complete the application and submit your deposit, but you will be unable to participate in Fall Housing Selection.  Your room will be assigned to you by the Office of Residence Life. 

Glossary

Bed A, B, C, D: Assigned bed space. 

Same Gender: Students of the same gender living together; for example: females living with females and males living with males. 

Mixed, no restrictions: Gender Neutral, roommates and suitemates of any gender. 

Non-Binary: Gender identity is neither female or male; if you select Non-Binary on your housing application, MMC RESIDENCE will not allow you to select a “same gender” room.  If you have any questions or would like to discuss your options, please contact us at residencelife@mmm.edu
