Senior Awards and Opportunities

AWARDS OF DISTINCTION

The Awards of Distinction will recognize five graduating seniors who, during their time at Marymount Manhattan College, have made exceptional contributions in the areas of educational achievement, leadership, service and spirit. The College’s Awards Committee, composed of faculty and staff, review all complete applications and make decisions based on your merits. The 2018 Awards of Distinction will be presented to graduating students at the 2018 Senior Awards Ceremony on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. The winners will also receive recognition in the 2018 Commencement Program.

The Awards of Distinction Application including recommendation letters, must be submitted by 3:00pm on Friday, March 23, 2018.

 

SILVER M AWARD NOMINATION  

Through faculty, staff, peer, and self-nomination, the Silver M is awarded to graduating seniors who have shown overall leadership and involvement at the College during their years at MMC. The Silver M Award will be presented to graduating students at the 2018 Senior Awards Ceremony on Sunday, April 29, 2018 from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. Graduating students will also receive recognition in the Commencement Program.

Complete the Silver M Award - Self Nomination Form if you (student) would like to nominate yourself.

Complete the Silver M Award Nomination Form if you (Faculty, Staff, Peer) would like to nominate a student.

The Silver M Award Nomination Form is due by 3:00pm Friday, March 23, 2018.

 

SENIOR-NOMINATED STAFF & FACULTY AWARDS  

Senior- Nominated Awards provide an opportunity for graduating students to recognize their favorite staff and faculty member(s).

Below are the categories for Senior-Nominated Awards. 

OUTSTANDING ADMINISTRATOR (STAFF) AWARD
Please nominate a full-time member of the staff/administration who has been supportive to you during your years of study at MMC (MMC staff member; not faculty). Nominated administrators with the most votes will be acknowledged at the Senior Award Ceremony on Sunday, April 29, 2018. Recent recipients have included Kevin Croke, Brooke Harbaugh, Zakkiyya Taylor, and Mary Brown.

OUTSTANDING FACULTY MEMBER AWARD
Please nominate up to 5 full-time members of the Faculty (1 for each Division) who have significantly impacted you during your years at MMC. Nominated faculty members from each academic division with the most votes will be acknowledged at the Senior Awards Ceremony on Sunday, April 29, 2018. If a faculty member has helped you during your time at MMC, show your thanks by nominating her/him/they. Past recipients have included Bradley Herling, Corey Liberman, Vandana Rao, Jill Stevenson, Rebecca Sperling, Ann Aguanno, Cecilia Feilla, Mary Fleischer, Erin Greenwell, and Andrea Tsentides.

After all nominations have been collected, candidates will be announced and graduating seniors will vote from a list of nominated staff, faculty, and students.  

The Senior-Nominated Awards for Staff & Faculty Form is due by Friday, March 23, 2018.

 

SENIOR CLASS SPEAKER AUDITION SIGN-UPS 

Interview for your chance to be the Senior Class Speaker for the 2018 Commencement Ceremony!

You are invited to register for a 15 minute “audition” time to showcase 3 minutes of what you would want to speak about.

Audition Dates and Times:

Wednesday, April 4, 2018,  12:00 pm - 2:00 pm

Thursday, April 5, 2018,  5:00 pm - 7:30 pm

The deadline to sign-up is Friday, March 23, 2018.

More information and the registration form will be available in early Spring!  

 

SENIOR AWARDS CEREMONY  

Celebrating the academic, leadership and service achievements of our graduating seniors, the following awards of excellence will be recognized at this event:

  • Awards of Distinction (5)
  • Gold Keys (for academic excellence in majors)
  • Certificates in the Minor (for academic excellence)
  • College Honors Program graduates
  • Silver M’s (for leadership and service to MMC)
  • Senior-nominated awards to Faculty and Staff

Students will also receive recognition in the 2018 Commencement program.
