Emerging Leaders

The Emerging Leaders program is for first year students.

The focus is on teaching students the fundamental skills of good leadership practice.

Through a series of weekly workshops that cover topics ranging from communication skills and problem-solving to time management and addressing conflicts, students will discover their own unique leadership style and voice as they progress through this program. The curriculum, based on the Social Change Model, consists of a weekly professional development/skills-building workshop, community service projects, group assignments, and a cumulative final presentation about the whole experience.

The weekly workshops will last ten weeks (February through mid-April) and will be held in person on Fridays from 11:00 am - 12:30 pm ET. In order to fully participate in the Emerging Leaders program, you must attend these weekly workshops.

Interested first-year students should apply during the fall semester for participation in the program during the spring semester. Students accepted into the program will also be awarded the Gladys Brooks Foundation Endowed Scholarship.

Applications for the Spring 2024 cohort are now closed.
